Terms of Use
For people who register for the Screening API. Last updated: September 24, 2026.
You accept these terms and the Privacy Notice for API users on the signup screen, before the account is created. A person who appears in a screened source has separate terms and does not use this account to file an ARCO request.
By creating an account you accept these Terms of Use and the Privacy Notice for API users. If you do not accept them, do not create an account. The personal-data statute that applies to the account is the LFPDPPP (Diario Oficial de la Federación, 20 March 2025).
Searchlook provides Know Your Customer (KYC) screening services that screen personal identifiers against international sanctions lists, watchlists, and compliance databases. The Service is provided on an "as-is" basis for compliance purposes only.
You agree to:
- Use the Service only for lawful KYC and compliance screening purposes
- Have a lawful basis under the LFPDPPP before you screen a person, and give them the notice your role as controller requires
- Comply with the LFPDPPP for personal data. The LFPIORPI is the anti-money-laundering law, not the personal-data law
- Keep your API keys confidential and secure
- Not use the Service for discriminatory, illegal, or fraudulent purposes
- Report security vulnerabilities responsibly
- Not reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the Service
All content, software, and documentation provided by Searchlook are proprietary and protected by copyright and applicable laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without written permission.
Screening results remain the property of Searchlook and may be subject to licensing agreements.
The Service is provided "as-is" without warranties of any kind. Searchlook is not liable for:
- Accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of screening results
- False positives or false negatives in match detection
- Service interruptions or data loss
- Third-party data source inaccuracies
- Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- Your use of results for decision-making without human review
Each screening call, including each later page of the same search, writes an audit log. Those logs are kept for 10 years under article 18 of the LFPIORPI, the anti-money-laundering record-keeping rule. They are not deleted by a cancellation request when article 33, fraction IV, of the LFPDPPP applies.
You acknowledge that audit logs are essential for regulatory compliance and may be disclosed to regulatory authorities.
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to screen individuals without valid KYC purposes
- Conduct mass screening without authorization
- Attempt to access unauthorized data or bypass security
- Share API keys or credentials with third parties
- Use the Service for surveillance or harassment
- Perform automated testing or load testing without permission
Pricing is based on API calls and screening transactions. You agree to:
- Pay applicable fees as per your service agreement
- Provide accurate billing information
- Allow automatic renewal unless cancelled
- Be responsible for any third-party payment processor fees
Searchlook may suspend or terminate your account if you:
- Violate these terms or applicable laws
- Engage in fraudulent or abusive activity
- Fail to pay outstanding fees
- Pose a security risk
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately, but audit logs and compliance records are retained per legal requirements.
You agree to indemnify and hold Searchlook harmless from any claims, damages, or costs arising from:
- Your misuse of the Service
- Violation of applicable laws or regulations
- Breach of these terms
- Your use of screening results in decision-making
We may update these terms. A material change is published on this page and sent to the email on your account. A new purpose for personal data needs your consent again under article 11 of the LFPDPPP. The version you accepted at registration is the one that created the account.
These terms are governed by the laws of Mexico, specifically the laws of Mexico City. Any disputes shall be resolved in the competent courts of Mexico City.
